Susan Thomas – Director

Susan is the daughter of a WWII veteran. Her father landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and saw continuous action until the liberation of the Netherlands at the war’s end. She knows only too well the impacts of PTSD on veterans and their families and how vital the services of CanPraxis are.

Susan is currently retired after a lengthy profession in architectural development consulting. She ran her own consulting practice for +25 years and lead several multi-million dollar, high profile projects internationally and in Canada.

Work has always been complemented with community engagement and Susan has, over the years, served on several board of directors with a wide range of focus from multi-faith organizations, the YWCA, Alberta University of the Arts , C-Space and Contemporary Calgary, to name a few. She currently serves on two other Boards in addition to CanPraxis.

As a former dressage rider, Susan understands the unique support equine therapy provides. These days, her attention is on training her two English Springer Spaniels and regularly competing in agility and obedience trials.
