John Senior
Served in the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCAF, both regular and reserve forces, from 1990 until 2013. His service and tours consist of Germany, multiple tours in Bosnia, Quebec Ice Storm, the G8 summit and Afghanistan in 2009-10. In addition, he worked for one year with Air Cadets in Cold Lake.
John completed training with the DND (Department of National Defence) for Peer Support in OSISS (Operational Stress Injury Social Support). OSISS served both active and retired military and RCMP. John moved to OSICAN in 2021. He trained with OSICAN and is active in their provincial development and expansion. Moving forward, John will continue to be available for more development and advocacy in as many areas of Peer Support as he can. In Calgary, John worked with a Social Worker with his Masters for peer support as well as Service Sexual Trauma. In his time with OSICAN, John has drastically expanded his knowledge and experience by working with Corrections, Police (CPS, WPS, EPS, RCMP), Fire, EMS, and Military. In the last year, he has continued his training in this new field, and attended a conference in New Orleans with the National Organization on Victims Assistance (NOVA). Most recently John has received his nation peer support certificate through PSC Canada.
