Life after service can affect relationships, communication, and everyday life in ways that aren’t always easy to explain. This immersive, multi-day program helps those who serve living with an Operational Stress Injury (OSI) rebuild trust, strengthen communication, and reconnect with the people closest to them.
The program combines trauma-informed psychology, experiential learning, and equine-assisted therapy to create practical change that participants can carry home.
The program combines facilitated learning, clinical expertise, and hands-on work with horses in a structured environment designed to support lasting change. Every participant works alongside registered psychologists, trained facilitators, and peers who understand the realities of service.
What happens here has to work out there —
in conversations, in relationships, and at home.
This program is designed for those who serve living with an Operational Stress Injury (OSI) or the lasting effects of trauma. Participants attend alongside a spouse, partner, or another significant support person because recovery doesn’t happen in isolation.
Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or someone you care about, our team can help determine whether this program is the right fit.
Can Praxis was built on the belief that understanding trauma is only part of recovery. People also need opportunities to practise new ways of communicating, responding, and rebuilding trust in real time.
Horses respond honestly to what is happening in the moment, creating opportunities for immediate feedback that participants, psychologists, and facilitators can work through together. Combined with structured clinical support, those experiences become practical skills participants can apply in everyday life.
Unlike many equine-assisted programs, Can Praxis is delivered by registered psychologists, trained facilitators, and Canadian veterans who understand the realities of service. The result is a program grounded in evidence, lived experience, and measurable outcomes.
